1. What is a Package?
A package unit is a booking option where a guest pays a fixed price for a specific block of time, as defined by the host. Unlike hourly bookings that allow for flexible durations, a package unit requires guests to book a pre-set block of time.
For example, if a host offers a "4-hour package from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.," a guest must book the entire four-hour block and pay the single, fixed price for that package.
2. Why Set Package Bookings?
1) For hosts with high demand for long-hour hire
If your space is often booked for longer periods, create a long-term package. This is much more efficient than multiple short bookings, especially for spaces that require significant cleaning or setup time.
Example: Photo/video studio host
Guests typically want to book for a half-day (4 hours) or a full day (8 hours), not just 1-2 hours.
Creating packages like Half Day (4 hours) or Full Day (8 hours) makes it easier for guests to book and helps you secure long-term reservations.
2) To strategically manage specific time slots
Packages can be set for specific time slots, separate from your regular operating hours. If you want to make a particular time frame more appealing, create a package for it. For example, if your space is often empty in the evening or late at night, create a package to fill those gaps.
Example: Cafe & bar host
The cafe is open during the day and not available for private hire, but the evening is available.
A "Night package (19:00–23:00)" makes it easy to manage bookings exclusively for the evening.
Example: Party room & event space host
There is high demand for bookings from 8 PM until the early morning.
Setting an "Overnight package (20:00–05:00)" makes it easy for guests to book late-night and overnight events like DJ parties, birthday parties, or wedding after-parties.
Note: Operating hours may vary by location and license, so always check local regulations.
3) To differentiate between weekday and weekend demand
If booking patterns and demand vary significantly between weekdays and weekends, you can set different pricing strategies by creating day-specific packages.
Example: Party room host
Weekday evenings see smaller gatherings, while weekend evenings are for larger parties.
You can create a "Weekday Evening (18:00–23:00, £150)" and a "Weekend Evening (18:00–23:00, £250)" to adjust your pricing to match demand.
3. Package Operating Hours
1) Packages can be set independently of your space's general operating hours.
Example: Your space's regular operating hours are 09:00–18:00, but you can create a package that runs from 13:00–24:00.
2) The maximum duration for a single package is 12 hours.
Example:
09:00–21:00 (12 hours) is allowed.
09:00–22:00 (13 hours) is not allowed.
3) Overnight packages that extend into the next day can only be created under specific conditions.
The host must be operating 24 hours on the day of the booking.
The next day must not be closed.
Example:
Monday: 00:00–24:00
Tuesday: 00:00–24:00
Wednesday: Day off
A package from Monday 22:00–Tuesday 10:00 is possible because Monday is a 24-hour day and Tuesday is not a day off.
A package from Tuesday 22:00–Wednesday 10:00 is not possible because Wednesday is a day off, even though Tuesday is a 24-hour day.
4) You can create multiple packages with overlapping times.
The system will automatically prevent double bookings. If one package is booked, any overlapping packages will be marked as unavailable.
Example:
Package A: 11:00–14:00
Package B: 13:00–15:00
If Package A is booked, Package B will automatically be marked as unavailable, even though only one hour (13:00–14:00) overlaps.
4. Package Pricing
Package prices are based on the total duration of the package, not an hourly rate.
Example:
Half Day Package: 08:00–12:00 / £120
6-hour Package: 13:00–18:00 / £160
5. Additional Guest Fees
If additional guest fees apply, they are calculated based on the entire duration of the package and automatically added to the total when the guest checks out.
